Subject-Verb Agreement Rule 6

Two or more singular subjects joined by or or nor require a singular verb.

Examples:

A. Neither Oscar nor Orlando was present at the symposium.
B. Either Clara or Rosario is coming.

Note: SS (singular subjects) + or = SV (singular verb) and, SS (singular subjects) + nor = SV (singular verb)

Exercise 06

1. Either Tom or Mat (is, are) your partner.
2. Either Singapore or Hongkong (is, are) your next destination.
3. Neither beer nor alcohol (was, were) served to them.
4. Neither tulip nor rose (is, are) her favorite flower.
5. Either Liz or Kim (goes, go) to Cebu.
