General evaluation criteria on a good story analysis

English majors are expected to create a good story analysis. Apparently, some of the students do not know the criteria for a good story analysis. Knowing the different criteria is essential so one can create an outstanding story analysis. In creating a story analysis, you must consider the following:

First, make sure that the introductory paragraph must introduce the author, the title of the story, provide a brief plot or summary, state the theme of the story, and explain which literary devices the author uses to develop the theme. Next let us consider the body paragraphs. Each body paragraph must focus on one literary device and how the author uses the device to develop the theme, though it also depends if what theory you used in analysing the story. In addition, each body paragraph must include at least one quote and must follow proper format for integrating quotes. Lastly, for your conclusion you have to restate your thesis in different words. You tell your readers what you have learned by analysing the work. And here are general rules you have to remember: do not use personal pronouns or contractions, the entire paper must be written in present tense and you must use a minimum of three quotes.

Now, that you already know the different criteria in analysing a story you are now ready to analyse one. So, get that favourite book of yours and start reading your favourite story again and make a story analysis.
